Frequently Asked Questions

You may still have some questions about how Pre Uni College can help your child. Here are some of the most commonly asked questions and our answers to them.

Do you do specific tutoring for exams or Selective School entrance?

Yes, our tutoring is perfect for children who need to improve their academic performance.

And one area of focus is Selective School entrance. We have advanced classes for years 5 and 6 students to help them prepare for Selective School examinations and scholarship examinations.

These classes include curriculum which is included in entrance tests, but not taught in primary schools.

We also drill them in examination technique and time management skills for examinations where children typically have only 30 seconds to answer each question. It may sound tough, however you only get one shot at this.

Naturally this extra support is only for parents and children who are serious about selection and it’s not for everyone.

I encourage you to contact us about how we support students targeting Selective Schools and scholarships, and how our comprehensive programs give them the best opportunity.

How exactly does the FREE 2-hour Learning Assessment work?

Your child will spend 2 hours with us doing a 4 part assessment.

The written test covers mathematics, English, writing and general academia. It is not a high-pressure test, however, we push them to uncover their boundaries.

The test is about finding out their current academic level. Putting them under excessive pressure would mean they couldn’t answer all the questions to the best of their ability. And this is what we want to assess.

They will have plenty of time to take breaks between subjects to they are recharged and ready to go.

Your child’s results and analysis will be sent to you via email within 48 hours.

How do you price your services?

Our rates are $25 per 2 hour lesson which is excellent value for an accelerated learning program like ours.

Your commitment is a one term commitment at a time. And while students stay with us for many years, in the unlikely event you choose to leave, you are not committed beyond the end of the current term.

We insist on a one term commitment so your child has the time and opportunity to grow and develop.

Typically our centres are filled through word of mouth and parents who bring their children here for years.

I can hire a university student offering one on one support. Why shouldn’t I?

Naturally you are free to make any decision you like. However university students are not skilled teachers.

Just because they can do primary school maths for example, doesn’t mean they know how to teach it. Or the different ways children learn.

They also don’t have the assessment tools we have, and are unable to work out your child’s strengths and weaknesses in enough detail to turn them into peak performers.

Do other tutoring organisations have processes like yours?

No. While all centres have processes to some extent, we have spent the past 8 years focussing on rigorous processes to help children thrive.

Their time with us is limited, and they are only at primary school for a few years. This means maximising every moment they have. You can’t afford to lose months by choosing the wrong centre.

This is why we insisted on getting these areas right first, before growing our centres.

Our reporting and assessment system has been fine-tuned over the years to deliver comprehensive, detailed yet easy to understand assessments.

It is clearly the best system of its kind in Australia.

Our ongoing assessment system is conducted 8 times a year, so there’s no chance your child will fall between the gaps.

And our initial 2 hour assessment pinpoints exactly what your child’s strengths and weakness are so we can develop a program exactly for them.

These systems and processes guarantee every moment your child is with us, and at home studying moves them quickly towards their goals.

You’re not a big name tutoring service. Why haven’t I heard of you before?

Our focus isn’t on growing quickly like some of the huge franchises. We have been quietly perfecting the process and systems so our children progress and advance quickly, and become lifelong learners.
